LC Valley schools to offer summer food programs

Several schools in Lewiston and Clarkston will provide meals through the United States Department of Agriculture’s free summer food program this year. 

The program offers breakfast, lunch and snacks at schools, libraries and community centers. Children 18 and younger eat free. In Lewiston, meals will be offered at four locations: Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. now through until Aug. 10 at McGhee Elementary School on Warner Ave. At Jenifer Junior High School on 16th St., breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., followed by lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on weekdays until Aug. 3.  Sacajawea Junior High School on 12th St. in the Orchards will serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on weekdays from June 11th to Aug. 10.  Lunch will also be served at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds on Burrell Ave., on July 26 and 27 from 12 to 12:30 p.m. 

In Clarkston, meals will be served from June 11th to Aug. 16th, with the exception of weekends and holidays. At Beachview Park, on Chestnut, lunch will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.  Lunch will also be served at Arnold Park, on Ash street, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. At the Clarkston High School Adams Building, on Chestnut St., breakfast will be served from 9 to 9:30 a.m., with lunch following from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  (Lewiston Tribune)
