Regional health officials reported a total of 118 combined new coronavirus cases Wednesday, with more than half the numbers coming from the LC Valley.

In north central Idaho: Nez Perce county once again had the most new cases with 35; Latah County reported 16 new infections; Clearwater County had 13 cases, with 8 classified as probable; and Idaho and Lewis counties each reported 4 new virus infections Wednesday.

In southeastern Washington: Asotin County had 34 new cases; and Whitman County reported 12 new virus infections.

There were no virus-related deaths reported in the region on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Culdesac School District canceled in-person classes for its elementary students from today (Thurs) until September 13th.

According to the school district’s website, the decision was made out of an abundance of caution following guidelines from local public health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Classes for the junior high and high school will be conducted in person with a requirement that students wear face masks. Online learning is being offered as an alternative to in-person classes for students who are not comfortable coming to school or who prefer not to wear a mask. (Lewiston Tribune)
