A preliminary hearing date has been set for the man accused of killing two people in Idaho and Nez Perce counties.
56-year-old Richard Ross is being held without bond in the Nez Perce County jail.
He is accused of killing 76-year-old Edwina Devin in her home near Mt. Idaho outside Grangeville on September 30th. He’s also been accused of the murder of her son, 57-year-old Michael Devin, whose body was found inside a burning vehicle October 1st in Lewiston.
Ross was to undergo a competency evaluation at the request of his attorney to determine if he’s able to participate in his own defense. But he has declined to be interviewed by a psychiatrist twice.
A preliminary hearing, which has been scheduled for December 8th, will determine if there’s adequate probable cause to charge Ross with the murders.
Ross is also a suspect in the 1994 strangulation deaths of Bruce and Lynn Peeples, of Grangeville, although he hasn’t been charged in that case. (Lewiston Tribune)
