Ballots for Washington’s August 2ndd Primary Election will be mailed to voters beginning Friday.

In the U.S. Senate race, 17 candidates are in the race to unseat five-term incumbent Democratic Senator Patty Murray.

Nine-term incumbent Republican Representative Cathy McMorris Rogers faces three opponents in the 5th Congressional District race.

Recently appointed Secretary of State Steve Hobbs has seven challengers. The winner will fill out the final two years of former Secretary of State Kim Wyman’s term of office, after Wyman accepted a position with the Biden Administration.

Two local county races are on ballots in Garfield and Whitman counties. However, both candidates in both races will automatically advance to the November General Election because of Washington’s Top-Two Primary System.

Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by August 2nd or deposited in an official ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

July 25th is the deadline for voters to register online or by mail, or to update their registration information. Election Day registration is also available in person at the county election office. (Lewiston Tribune)
