CLARKSTON, WA – A 28-year-old man who allegedly stole items from two businesses on 6th Street, including a power drill with a long drill bit, was arrested on multiple charges yesterday afternoon. The man, later identified as Shadow Allman, was initially observed by a Clarkston Police Officer who was on his way to another call. Allman was reportedly walking in downtown Clarkston with the drill in his hands and attempting to conceal it.

According to a Probable Cause Affidavit, Allman was booked into the Asotin County Jail on two counts of theft and two counts of trafficking stolen property, along with warrants out of Whitman County on unrelated theft and criminal trespassing charges.

The drill and a long auger bit were allegedly stolen from the former Moose Lodge building in the 800 block of 6th Street. Surveillance video from a nearby business reportedly showed the same individual whom the officer had witnessed walking toward 3rd Street with the drill.

“This male switched from carrying the drill in his left hand, to his right hand. It was as if he was trying to blend the drill into his clothing and leg, so I did not see it. I did think this was out of place, but I was going to another call, not allowing me to investigate this person with the drill,” the officer says in the affidavit.
Approximately one hour later, at 2:00 p.m., another officer spoke with an individual at the Clarkston Police Station in regard to a male subject walking into a 3rd Street address with a drill which had a long drill bit.

The officers went to the 3rd Street address to look for the male.

“We arrived, and I made contact with [a man and woman] and advised them of the details and the drill. It was then they both provided the following information; [they] explained that a male individual, Shadow Allman, walked into their back door and asked [the man] if he wanted to buy the Drill for $20.00. It should be noted that this drill and drill bit has a value of $400.00, [he] declined the offer, and Shadow then wanted to leave the drill behind, and left the residence. [The female] explained that she would call back if Shadow returned,” the affidavit says.

A short time later, [the female] called to report that Allman had returned to the residence on 3rd Street. The officer returned to the home and questioned Allman regarding his alleged involvement in the case.

“Shadow denied all allegations of theft or possessing the drill. I also was aware that Shadow had two active [warrants] for his arrest,” the officer says in the affidavit. “Dispatch was able to confirm the [warrants] and the jail was going to [accept] the arrest. I placed handcuffs onto Shadow and double locked them.”

It was at this time Schurman’s True Value Hardware called and reported the alleged theft of a flashlight. The second officer was able to obtain video surveillance from the store and confirmed that Allman was the same suspect, the affidavit says.

“[The male on 3rd Street] showed me a flashlight, stating that Shadow gave it [to] him. While searching Shadow, I also found new merchandise still in its packaging. There [were] two BBQ lighters, a USB charger, Rubbing Alcohol, and packing tape. I have not been able to find [where] these items came from,” according to the document. Those items were placed into police evidence.

Due to the fact that Allman had allegedly stolen items from two different locations, the officer recommended two charges of Theft 3; and because Allman allegedly initiated the sale of the drill and flashlight, the officer recommended two charges of Trafficking Stolen Property 1.
