Bengals Fall, Wildcats to Play For Avista Tourney Championships

It was a good night for Lapwai High School as both Wildcat teams punched their tickets into the Avista Holiday Tournament Championship games at the P1FCU Activity Center.

In the girl’s bracket, Jaelyn McCormick-Marks and Jordyn McCormick-Marks both scored 17 points in the leading the Wildcats to a 51-32 win over Lewiston. Lauren Gold added 11 in the win. Lewiston was led by Zoe Kessinger’s 16 points. Lapwai will face Whitpine League rival Prairie for the tournament title today at 4 p.m.

Lewiston will play for third place against Clarkston today at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the boys semi-final, Kase Wynott played a complete game with 25 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for Lapwai as the Wildcats extended their winning streak to 42 straight games with 70-63 win over Lewiston. Point guard Terrell Ellenwood-Jones added 18 points in the win. The Bengals were led by Jordan Bramlet’s 15 points. Lapwai will meet Shadle Park for the boys tournament title this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

Lewiston will face Clarkston in the third-place contest this morning at 11:30.
