LEWISTON, ID – Fire crews remain on scene of a structure fire near the area of 24th Street. The Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched at 10:59 a.m.
A City of Lewiston backhoe was brought in to help clear debris and make it easier for crews to get to the flames, which were still active more than an hour and a half after the start of the fire.
Fire Chief Travis Myklebust says it is not uncommon that a backhoe is used to fight structure fires.
It is reported that one person was transported to the hospital for burn injuries.
Several propane tanks were located on the outside of the structure and were moved across the street before fire crews arrived.
