The Idaho Lottery’s annual, public school fundraiser, Scratch for Schools, is back in North Central Idaho. The Idaho Lottery will host 38 schools at the West Auxiliary Gym on the Lewis-Clark State College Campus, just west of the P1FCU Activity Center in Lewiston on Tuesday.
Statewide, the Lottery is hosting a total of 10 events with more than 450 schools registered to take part in the annual fundraising event to benefit public education. It’s the 22nd edition of Scratch for Schools, a program that has returned over $1.5 million to benefit public education in Idaho.
Billed as the fastest five-minute fundraiser in Idaho, each of the schools will compete for the title of fastest scratching school and win cash for their classroom or school needs like playground equipment, books for their library, or computer learning software.
Each participating school receives an entire pack of Scratch Tickets and five minutes to scratch as many tickets as possible. The fastest scratching schools win additional prizes and advance to a final round. About 120 administrators, teachers, Parent Teacher Organizations members, and staff members simultaneously scratch thousands of Lottery tickets for their schools.
Schools could win as much as $1,100.
