ELLENSBURG, WA – The No. 16 Warriors dropped a non-conference matchup with NCAA Division II Central Washington on Wednesday by a final of 7-5. Despite LC outhitting the Wildcats 14-12, CWU came up with more timely hits in the contest.
LC State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first half inning with singles by Nick Seamons, Pu’ukani De Sa and Jakob Marquez. A double play by the Warrior defense got LC out a jam in the first and starter Jantzen Lucas struck out two in the second.
CWU surged for four runs on five hits in the third to gain the advantage. The Wildcats tallied four doubles in the inning.
The Warriors evened the score in the top of the fourth. Doubles by Sam Olsson and Leo Rivera made it 4-3, and a single by Carter Booth resulted in an error that brought in the tying run.
The Wildcats erased the two runs with a pair in the home half of the inning. Three doubles made it a 6-4 contest in favor of CWU.
Dominic Signorelli walked to put a runner on before Marquez doubled to make it 6-5. CWU added a run in the fifth to push the margin to 7-5, and held the lead for the remainder of the game.
Booth, Seamons, De Sa, Marquez, Olsson and Charlie Updegrave each had two hits in the game and Marquez drove in two runs.

The Warriors wrap up the regular season this weekend against Bushnell. The four-game Cascade Conference series kicks off in Eugene on Friday.
