POTLATCH, ID – The body of an unidentified man was found inside a home that caught fire Saturday morning north of Potlatch. According to the Latah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and members of the Potlatch Rural Fire District responded to a report of a structure fire on US 95 at 5:01 a.m.
“The first firefighting units arrived on scene at 5:19 am. After the fire was extinguished, it was determined that a deceased male was located inside the residence. Moscow Fire, Bennet Lumber and Palouse Fire also assisted in firefight activities,” officials say.
Sheriff’s Office Detectives and a member of the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s office arrived on the scene sometime later. At this point the investigation into the death of the individual and the cause of the fire are still under investigation.
