A man was hospitalized after suffering injuries incurred following an explosion at the Whitman County Shop near Colfax yesterday (Thur) morning.
According to Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers, the unidentified 36-year-old man is an employee in the Whitman County Public Works Department. He suffered severe head injuries following an explosion caused by combustibles he was working with.
It is believed he was struck in the head by part of a lid or container where chemicals were stored. The man was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for treatment.
The incident is under investigation.
