Latah County has awarded it’s solid waste collection contract to Sunshine Disposal.
With it’s current contract ending on September 30, the Latah County Commissioners received input from staff and the rural city representatives, and awarded the upcoming Latah County Solid Waste Collection, Recycling, and Bulky Waste franchise to Sunshine Disposal & Recycling on an initial five-year term.
When Sunshine assumes curbside collections on October 1st, it will provide Latah
County customers with a fully staffed phone line to direct any inquiries and will be able to provide more resources including trucks, personnel, and containers.
In a press release, the Commissioners noted the difficulty in making the decision. Inland North Waste (formerly Latah Sanitation) has been the solid waste collection provider in Latah County for many years and will continue to provide services in the City of Moscow.
County residents will be provided with more information as the October 1 transition nears.
