Hot and dry conditions have prompted Asotin County officials to issue a burn ban this week.
Outdoor fires and any type of open burning are now suspended for the summer, throughout the unincorporated areas of the county and the city of Asotin.
The only exception is campfires within designated fire pits at Chief Timothy Park, unless a statewide burn ban is enacted. Residential propane and charcoal barbecues can be used, but all beach fires and outdoor burning are prohibited because of the dry conditions.
Campfires along Snake River Road are also prohibited. The beach fire ban goes into effect each year on July 1st.
Violators will face fines.
