Warrior Golf Opens Corban Invite with Strong Play

A strong opening day has the Lewis-Clark State Golf teams in contention after the first round of the Corban Invitational at Pine Ridge Golf Course.

Kyla Currie is just three strokes behind individual leader Abigail Chow after shooting a 7-over 79 in the opening round of the women’s tournament. Deana Caruso is one stroke behind her teammate in a tie for ninth.

The No. 25 Warriors are eight strokes behind leaders Oregon Tech who have a surprising first-round lead over No. 1 British Columbia. The Thunderbirds are three shots behind the Owls, five strokes ahead of LC State.

The No. 20 LC State men trail only No. 2 British Columbia after a solid first two rounds. The Thunderbirds had four of the top six players on the opening day.

Alex Navarro used an even-par 72 to move up the leaderboard, he is currently in a tie for sixth place, seven strokes behind leading Manu Gandhi of British Columbia. Juan Pablo Quisoboni and Owen Pearson are both just one shot outside of the top 10.

The strong team effort has LC State seven strokes ahead of Southern Oregon for second place. The Thunderbirds have built a 27-stroke lead.
