CLARKSTON, WA – Firefighters from the Clarkston Fire Department and Asotin County Fire District #1 responded to the 1300 block of Libby Street at around 7:45 p.m. this evening for a report of a structure fire. According to eyewitness Michael Ringle, a hot water heater shorted out and caused a small fire on the exterior of the home.

It was quickly extinguished and firefighters are in the process of ventilating the structure.

“The quicker you call 911 the quicker we can get here to put it out,” one fire official told Ringle. “Some people try to put out fires on their own and it doesn’t go as planned.”

There are no reports of injuries.
