Local Man Arrested on Felony Theft Warrant & New Charges

CLARKSTON, WA – A 39-year-old man was arrested recently after he allegedly took a bicycle from a home in the 1300 block of 5th Street in Clarkston. Police Chief Joel Hastings says Cory Lee Horton was arrested at around 7:18 a.m. last Friday on an outstanding felony warrant for Second-Degree Burglary and Second-Degree Theft. He was also charged with Second-Degree Criminal Trespass, Second-Degree Theft, and Possession of Burglary Tools in connection with the recent incident.

“A homeowner near 5th and Highland Ave reported the theft of a bicycle and trespass. An Asotin County Deputy was in the area at the time and located the suspect, Horton.  Officers arrested Horton on an outstanding felony warrant and upon completing the investigation he was charged with the above listed crimes,” Hastings says.

According to a Probable Cause Affidavit, the outstanding warrant was related to the alleged theft of a bottle of “tire slime” from the Clarkston Walmart on October 25, 2022. It was valued at around $11 the document says. Shortly after that alleged theft, law enforcement officers attempted to locate Horton but he eluded capture, and the arrest warrant was issued.
A homeowner in the area of 5th Street and Highland Avenue reports there have been multiple thefts in the surrounding area recently and suggests homeowners check their security cameras for evidence. If you suspect you have been a victim, contact local law enforcement to make a report.
