Pullman Arterial Street Resurfacing Project is Completed Ahead of Schedule

pullman-2

The arterial street resurfacing project on Pullman’s College Hill, which began in June 2023, focused on Merman and Westwood Drives.  As of Friday, September 29, the final paving and striping on Merman Drive was completed and the road was reopened for traffic.

After Phase 2 of the project on Westwood Drive was complete in late September, construction immediately shifted back to Merman Drive, where the recently laid top layer of asphalt did not meet project requirements due to materials discrepancies with the asphalt mix itself. Removal and replacement of the asphalt was necessary in order to ensure a quality, long-lasting end product. The contractor, Motley-Motley Inc., performed this rework at no additional cost to the City.

Despite this setback, the project was completed ahead of schedule on September 29 as opposed to the original estimate of October 13.

Pullman Transit riders, now that the arterial resurfacing project has been completed, the ApartmentLand Express and Wheat Route will stop servicing the temporary stops used during this construction project at Cedar Ridge and Chief Joseph Village. Both of these routes have returned to their regular, full loops. Please visit www.pullman-wa.gov/transit for up-to-date information.
