LEWISTON, ID – Lewiston firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at around 8:30 a.m. yesterday. When crews arrived in the 300 block of 1st Avenue, they found heavy smoke and fire inside apartment C. Residents in other units were reported to still be inside.
“Crews attacked the fire with a pre connected hose line and the fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes. The fire was confined to one apartment with no spread to surrounding units,” according to a press release.
Crews remained on scene for 90 minutes to check for extension and overhauled the apartment. The department responded with three structural engines, three ambulances, two chief officers, and one fire inspector, totaling 18 personnel. Clarkston Fire also responded with one structural engine and four personnel.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
