Madelyn Green led three Bulldogs in double figures scoring with 17 points as the Grangeville High School girl’s basketball team held off the Lewiston girls 54-52 today (Thur) in the opening game of the 11th Annual Avista Holiday High School Basketball Tournaments at Lewis-Clark State College.
Lewiston’s Adi McKarcher led all scorers with 18 points and Reese DeGroot put up 11 in the loss. The Bengals fall to 4-7 on the year and will play tomorrow (Fri) morning at 10:30.
Grangeville improves to 8-1 while advancing into the tournament’s semi-final round tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Drew Hottinger led the Bengal boys with 17 points and Rylan Gomez added 13 in a 61-42 win over previously unbeaten Kendrick.
Lewiston pulled away with a 23-0 run over about a 9 minute span between the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
Ralli Roetcisoender led Kendrick with 13 points.
The Bengals advance to the semi-final round and will play at 3 p.m. tomorrow (Fri).
Kendrick will try to bounce back with a game tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
