NEW ORLEANS, LA – Both LC State Cross Country teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status and had 10 individuals garner All-Academic Athlete honors, the USTFCCCA announced today.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

“I was excited to see the student-athletes excel in every area,” Head Coach Mike Collins said. “So great to see some individuals and some very deserving teams get recognized for their work in the classroom. I think the women ended up being top 10 and the men in the top 12 with both teams having GPAs over 3.5, so very high success and outcomes in the classroom.”

The Warrior women had six athletes earn the honor, led by senior Brooklyn Shell, junior Abigail Gorton, sophomores Grace Dixon, Chloe Overberg and Grace Tiegs. Freshman Aubree Williams also met the criteria.

On the men’s side, LC State had four representatives qualify for the award. Senior Brycen Brown, juniors Carter Gordon and Conner May, and sophomore Clay Shumaker each earned the honor.
