CLARKSTON, WA – A 53-year-old Clarkston woman has been charged after allegedly having sexual relations with a 15-year-old boy who lives near her home. Laura Beth Miller is charged with felony Third-Degree Rape of a Child and Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor according to a Probable Cause Affidavit filed in Asotin County Superior Court.

The Asotin County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the alleged incident on January 19th, the day after it reportedly happened. One of Miller’s family members had contacted a deputy and allegedly said she had been raped by a neighbor boy. The deputy responded to her home and Miller reportedly told him that she “had a few drinks and went to bed,” the affidavit says.

“She said that she was awakened by someone taking her clothes off,” the court document says. “Laura said she asked him why he was doing this and he complimented her and told her he was attracted to her. Laura told [the deputy] she should have stopped it but went along with it and they engaged in sex.”

Miller was reportedly “distraught” about the incident and was concerned she would be in trouble because the boy was 16-years-old. Washington State’s age of consent is 16.

A detective contacted Miller by phone a few days later and she “was tearful and emotional.”

“Laura told me she felt violated, because she had been sleeping in her own bed and woke to someone taking her clothes off. Laura said she shouldn’t have gone along with it, but shouldn’t have come into her room and started undressing her, in her sleep,” the affidavit says.

Meanwhile, the court document says the boy’s parents told the detective that their son informed them that Miller allegedly purchased alcohol for the boy and two of his friends, and they also smoked marijuana on January 18th. While the other teens were upstairs watching a movie, the alleged victim went “downstairs to give Laura a hug” a couple of times, and eventually, the pair reportedly began massaging each other and kissing on a couch.

“[The boy] said someone came downstairs, which led to him and Laura going upstairs to her bedroom,” the affidavit says. “[The boy] said Laura started taking her clothes off first. [He] said she struggled with her bra so he helped her with it.”

The teen told the detective that he “felt like he made a mistake because it was his friend’s mom and it was weird,” according to the affidavit.
