Lewiston Crash Results in Road Closure, Power Outage

Lewiston’s 21st Street was partially blocked for several hours yesterday after a vehicle crashed into a power pole.

The crash was reported just after 9 a.m. on the 1100 block of 21st Street when a Jeep SUV struck a wooden power pole and sheared it off. The incident happened between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue.

According to first responders, the wreck occurred when the driver of the Jeep experienced an unknown medical episode. The condition of the driver hasn’t been released.

The wreck also resulted in 129 Avista customers in the area losing power for hours before repairs were completed later in the afternoon.

Traffic was diverted around a portion of 21st Street between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue immediately after the wreck and the northbound lane of 21st Street was closed for hours while the power pole was replaced.
