Over 40 Local Schools to Take Part in Idaho Lottery’s Scratch for Schools Event Tuesday in Lewiston

The Idaho Lottery’s annual, public school fundraiser, Scratch for Schools, is back in North Central Idaho. 41 schools will take part in the event held at the West Auxiliary Gym on the Lewis-Clark State College Campus, just west of the P1FCU Activity Center in Lewiston this Tuesday at 4:20 p.m.

Statewide, the Lottery is hosting a total of 10 events with more than 480 schools registered to participate in the annual fundraising event to benefit public education. This is the 23rd edition of Scratch for Schools, a program that has returned over $1.6 million to benefit public education in Idaho.

Called the fastest five-minute fundraiser in Idaho, each of the schools will compete for the title of fastest scratching school and win cash for their classroom or school needs like playground equipment, books for their library, or computer learning software.

Each participating school receives an entire pack of Scratch Tickets and five minutes to scratch as many tickets as possible. The fastest scratching schools win additional prizes and advance to a final round. Over 120 administrators, teachers, Parent Teacher Organization members, and staff members simultaneously scratch thousands of Lottery tickets for their schools. Participants attending the event show their school spirit and wear fun costumes. It is a high energy, visual event.
