
LAPWAI, ID—Kase Wynott of Lapwai High School has been named the 2023-24 Idaho Gatorade boys basketball player of the year.
The 6-foot-6, 190-pound senior small forward averaged 36 points per game, along with 13.9 rebounds and 9.1 assists this past season, leading the Wildcats (25-2) to the Class 1A state title.

Wynott also averaged 3.0 blocks and 2.9 assists in a campaign that culminated with state tournament MVP honors. PrepHoops ranked him the state’s No. 4 recruit in the Class of 2024. He concluded his prep career as a three-time state champion, a four-time First Team All-State selection, the state’s career scoring leader (2,962 points), and the state’s single-game scoring leader (68).
Wynott has maintained a 3.78 GPA in the classroom and signed a national letter of intent to play basketball on scholarship at Utah State University this fall.
Wynott has volunteered locally as part of an Adopt-a-Highway initiative and hosted a food/clothing drive to support the Lewis and Clarkston Valley homeless population. He has also generously donated his time to Lapwai youth as part of an after-school program for elementary school students and coached and officiated basketball for youth players.
