Alex Navarro has a share of the lead, and the Lewis-Clark State Warrior Men’s Golf team sits in second place after the second round of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, at Loomis Trail Golf Club on Tuesday.

“Alex and Bryden again played some solid golf,” coach Zach Anderson said. “The other three had some struggles.”

Navarro started his day off on No. 2 with a bogey but answered quickly with a birdie on No. 3. Another bogey on No. 6 was again erased on the following hole with a birdie on No. 7. The junior played a clean back-9 with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 to shoot a 2-under, 70 to improve to 5-under on the tournament. Navarro is tied with Dylan Macdonald of British Columbia for the top spot.

Bryden Brown got into trouble early with a double bogey on No. 2. Birdies on Nos. 4, 6 and 11 had the sophomore in the red going into his final two holes. A bogey on No. 17 pushed his score back to even, but a birdie on No. 18 gave Brown a 1-under, 71 and momentum going into Wednesday. The Moscow, Idaho, native is one stroke behind the leading pair.

Oscar Behle recorded a birdie on No. 11 in a 5-over, 77 second round. Behle finished the day in a tie for 16th. Hunter Millsap improved in his second round by one stroke to sit in 18th. Luke West recorded another round of 79 and will go into the final round in a tie for 28th.

“Men had an up and down day,” Anderson said. “We will continue to battle until the last putt drops.”

For the second straight day, LC State shot the second-best round as a team, only behind leading British Columbia. The Warriors shot 294 as a foursome and sit at 584 after two rounds. The Thunderbirds shot a 283 on Tuesday and have a 20-stroke advantage on LC with one round to go.
