UPDATE from the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office:
ximately 11:23 AM the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a helicopter, that had been fertilizing fields, clipped powerlines and crashed near Harvest Moon Lane in the Harvest Vista Sub-devision east of Lewiston. Upon arrival Deputies were able to locate the crash site near the edge of a field on the rim of a canyon. The pilot, 32 year old Lewiston resident, Drew Oharra was able to escape the crashed helicopter with minor injuries.
The FAA responded to the scene and will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Emergency crews responded to a helicopter crash this (Thur) morning east of Lewiston near Cougar Ridge.
The unidentified pilot was crop dusting a field when he reportedly lost visibility while spraying and the aircraft flew into nearby power lines. The pilot was able to walk away and was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The helicopter was a total loss.
Emergency responders from the Lewiston Fire Department, Wheatland Fire Protection District and the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s responded to the crash and the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.
