Head Coach Caelyn Orlandi announced the signing of the third addition to the 2024-25 LC State Women’s Basketball roster on Monday in Napavine, Wash., native Keira O’Neill.
“Keira signing to our women’s basketball team instantly made us more athletic,” Orlandi said. “Our style of play is going to be a perfect fit for Keira. She is long, incredibly athletic, and can run the floor extremely well. She is one of those players that I feel was overlooked. Her high school coach mentioned she is a diamond in the rough and I definitely know we signed a great player. She is one of those players who will constantly work at her craft and I believe will come into the fall season even better then she is now.”
O’Neill is a 5-11 forward who averaged 11.3 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game for the Tigers and helped lead the team to a Washington 2B State Championship. O’Neill was voted the Washington State Girls Basketball Coaches Association 2B Player of the Year, along with a first-team all-league selection. During her high school career, O’Neill helped her team to two district championships and two league championships.
The incoming freshman excels off the court as well as a two-time recipient of the Scholar Athlete Award, two-time member of the Superintendent’s All-Scholar list and two-time Principal’s All-Scholar list. O’Neill plans to pursue a degree in psychology with plans to become a high school counselor.
“I am so excited that Keira chose to be a Warrior and I am looking forward to all she will accomplish at LC State,” Orlandi added.
O’Neill joins Bella Firnkoess and Kendall Wallace as part of the 2024 class of signees.
