Clearwater Paper Announces Expansion of Shelby, N.C. Plant

Clearwater Paper has announced plans to expand it’s Shelby, North Carolina plant.

According to a news release, the company says it’s adding a $23 million line to produce “state-of-the-art” facial tissue at the 400-acre site in Shelby where it manufactures toilet paper, paper napkins, paper towels and facial tissue.

Clearwater Paper also makes tissue at plants in Lewiston and Las Vegas.

The $260-million Shelby facility debuted in 2011, manufacturing toilet paper with through- air-dried technology that increases the softness of tissue. In 2019 the company expanded again in Shelby with a project that cost $420 million.
