The Cougar Creek Fire burning southwest of Clarkston has grown to nearly 5,000 acres.

Crews continue to battle the blaze that is now listed at 4,895 acres and is zero percent contained.

Evacuation orders have been issued in several areas, and the Grande Ronde River Road is closed from Troy, Oregon, to the state highway near Boggan’s Oasis. The public is asked to avoid the area as firefighters work and equipment is deployed around the fire.

The Lewiston Tribune reports several structures have been lost as the fire grows.

A Type 3 Incident Management Team has taken the lead on the fire, and a command center is set up at the Lincoln Middle School campus in the Clarkston Heights.
