The Cougar Creek Fire burning southwest of Clarkston has grown to 8,271 acres and was listed at 23 percent contained.
A Level 2 Evacuation Notice has been implemented for the Grouse Flat area of Garfield County and Wallowa County.
According to a news release, control lines were being put in place to limit fire spread in the Wenatchee Creek area by establishing hose lays, attacking the fire directly and building dozer lines. Structure protection operations continue and firefighters are mopping up hot spots in areas with decreased fire activity.
