A Moscow man is under arrest after fleeing the U.S. with is daughter without the consent of the child’s mother.
According to a press release from the Whitman County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, on June 3rd, 21-year-old Aaron Aung did not return his 2-year old daughter to her mother as scheduled by a court ordered parenting plan. The Pullman Police Department, Moscow Police Department and the FBI worked collaboratively to locate Aung and the child. Both were found in Mexico, along with Aung’s fiancé, Nadia Cole. Shortly thereafter, mother and daughter were reunited.
The Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office and the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office have worked with Federal authorities to return Aung to the region. After careful consideration and coordination, officials determined the best venue for the matter lies with the Federal Government, which has the resources to pursue charges against Aung and hold him accountable.
