Listen: Governor Little Praises All Involved in Work to Suppress Destructive Wildfires

Idaho Governor Brad Little was in Lapwai yesterday (Thur) to tour the damage from both the Gwen and Texas Fires east of Lewiston.

In his remarks following the aerial tour the Governor praised the work of all involved to keep the devastating blazes from causing even more damage and hardship.

 

 

According to the Idaho Department of Lands, 38 primary residences – including 25 homes and 13 RV’s, along with 122 outbuildings, 97 vehicles and 17 additional RV’s were all lost in the Gwen Fire that burned 28, 820 acres and to date has cost an estimated $6 million.

Meanwhile, 4 primary residences, numerous outbuildings, vehicles and equipment were lost to the Texas Fire that burned 1,582 acres and to date has cost an estimated $2.8 million.

Both fires are nearly 100 percent contained.
