Three people were arrested last weekend following a traffic stop in Idaho County.

According to a news release from the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was on routine patrol around 9 p.m. Saturday near Harpster when he observed a pickup pulling a trailer hauling wood and noticed the taillights were not on. Upon stopping the vehicle and contacting the driver and passenger of the pickup, a drug-sniffing dog and her handler arrived and performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle. The dog alerted and a subsequent search found drugs and paraphernalia.

32-year-old Michael Fignani of Kamiah, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor open container of alcohol by a driver, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. Additionally, 48-year-old Marty Sanford of Harpster, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, and he was cited for open container of alcohol by a passenger and misdemeanor possession of a legend drug without a prescription.

While officers were investigating, the registered owner of the pickup, a woman who was identified as 45-year-old Barbara Palmer of Kamiah, arrived and parked behind the patrol vehicles and pickup, blocking the roadway. After being asked to move her vehicle several times and requested not to interfere with the traffic stop, Palmer was arrested for misdemeanor resisting and obstructing an officer.
