The Whitman County Commissioners have awarded $200,000 to Project Downtown Pullman from the county’s 2024 Economic Development Public Facilities Funds, also known as .09 Funds.

“We’re grateful that Whitman County recognizes the value and economic impact this project brings to our community,” said Mayor Francis Benjamin. “Thank you to County Commissioners Art Swannack, Tom Handy, and Michael Largent for granting these funds to the City of Pullman.”

The City of Pullman applied for this award in April 2024 to bridge the gap between project costs and existing funding for Project Downtown Pullman. A total of $318,594 was still needed to fund the project fully. The .09 Funds award of $200,000 will be used toward that balance.

The .09 Funds are awarded by the Whitman County Board of Commissioners in conjunction with the Blue Ribbon Advisory Task Committee. The City of Pullman applied for special consideration for this award in April 2024. The award was granted during the Whitman County Commissioners meeting on September 3, 2024.
