Rescue personnel responded to a motorcycle crash on Wawawai Road near Nisqually John Landing at about 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
According to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, emergency personnel out of Colton-Uniontown and Clarkston were dispatched to respond. Soon after arriving on scene medical personnel pronounced 67-year-old Michael Auvil of Garfield, deceased.
The initial investigation revealed the Auvil was traveling east bound when he failed to negotiate a curve at a railroad crossing. After leaving the roadway the motorcycle impacted a guardrail and Auvil was ejected.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated but drugs and alcohol are not suspected at this time.
