One person was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash in rural Idaho County Saturday afternoon.
According to a news release, Idaho State Police and the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash near Elk City Summit Road and Newsome Creek Road at around 3:10 p.m.
A 57-year-old man from Nampa, was driving a white 2001 Ford F350 which was also occupied by a 67-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man. The Ford was traveling westbound on Elk City Summit Road. The vehicle lost the ability to brake which caused the vehicle to drive off the road and go up an embankment before overturning.
The 41-year-old male was pronounced deceased on scene. The woman was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. The driver was uninjured in the crash.
The road was closed for approximately 3 and a half hours in both directions for emergency responders to process the crash scene before it was re-opened in both directions. The woman was wearing a seatbelt. Both men in the vehicle were not.
Alcohol and Speed are not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
