A Clarkston woman was arrested yesterday (Wed) following an altercation at a Lewis Clark Credit Union branch in Lewiston.

According to a Lewiston Police Department news release, dispatch received a report of an alarm triggered at the Bryden Avenue branch location. Dispatch also received numerous 911 calls from LCCU employees reporting an irate female credit union member yelling and fighting with LCCU employees.

Officers arrived on scene and located the female suspect, identified as 27-year-old Savannah Calene in the passenger seat of a vehicle located in the ATM drive through. She was placed under arrest after refusing to exit the vehicle and allegedly battering officers.

According to the release, Calene entered LCCU to withdraw money from her checking account. Calene claimed to have deposited a check the week prior. However, the check showed to be fraudulent and the money was not deposited into her account.

Calene allegedly became argumentative with LCCU staff when they told her the check was rejected. Calene then entered the employee area of the bank and attempted to open several drawers located at the teller stations. Employees attempted to keep her away from the drawers as she used physical force to push past them. Witnesses stated Calene was demanding money from LCCU staff and demanded to know where the safe was located. Credit union staff were able to physically control Calene and force her out of the bank prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

Calene was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail on the two felony offenses: attempted robbery and burglary. She was also charged with resisting and obstructing officers and battery upon an officer. No injuries were reported by LCCU staff.
