Republicans also saw great success in local Idaho county races, many of which were unopposed.
In Nez Perce County: Republican Sheriff Bryce Scrimsher, Independent Prosecuting Attorney Justin Coleman were both unopposed, while Magistrate Judge Victoria Olds retained her seat on the bench with 86 percent approval.
In Latah County: Republican Richie Skiles defeated Independent James Fry 57.9 percent to 34.8 percent in the sheriff’s race. The District 1 County Commissioner seat was won by Republican Tony Johnson over Democrat Mark Thorne 57 percent to 42.8 percent. The District 3 Commission seat went to Republican Jason Stooks in a close race 51 percent to 48.5 percent over Democrat John Bohman. Latah Count Prosecuting Attorney, Democrat Bill Thompson was unopposed and voters retained Magistrate Judge Megan Marshall with 81 percent approval.
The Kendrick Joint School District 283 Supplemental Levy passed with 63 percent approval.
Races in Idaho, Clearwater and Lewis County were all unopposed. In Idaho County Republican Doug Ulmer was re-elected along with Republican Prosecuting Attorney Kirk McGregor. Republican Skip Brandt retained his seat on the county commission, and Republican Brad Higgins was also elected.
Clearwater County voters supported Republican Sheriff Chris Goetz for another term along with Republican Prosecuting Attorney Clayne Tyler; and Mitch Reggear and Ken Harvey secured spots on the county commission. Magistrate Judge David Judd was overwhelmingly retained with 87 percent approval.
In Lewis County: Republican Sheriff Jason Davis was re-elected, as was Independent Prosecuting Attorney Zach Paul. In the Lewis County Commissioners races: Republicans Mke Tornatore and Eric Hasselstrom both won seats.
