The price for a gallon of gasoline in Idaho and across the U.S. continues to drop.
According to the American Automobile Association, the average price for a gallon of regular in Idaho is $3.20, which is eight cents less than a week ago, 25 cents less than a month ago, and 59 cents less than a year ago. The national average currently stands at $3.08 per gallon, which is two cents less than a week ago, 13 cents less than a month ago, and 30 cents less than a year ago.
Idahoans are now paying the 10th highest price for fuel in the U.S.
According to the Energy Information Administration, gasoline demand fell by 300,000 barrels per day, while U.S. refineries increased production to 90.5% of capacity. Those factors, combined with lower oil prices, have helped tame prices at the pump this week.
While most of the state is seeing big drops in the price of gasoline, including Rexburg which saw it’s average price drop 28 center per gallon this week, motorists in Lewiston only saw a drop of 4 cents per gallon to a state-high of $3.33. Idaho Falls has the state’s lowest average price for a gallon of regular at $3.01.
