Seattle Mariner catcher Cal Raleigh won a Rawlings Platinum Glove Award – honoring the best defensive player in each league.
The Platinum Glove, which was first awarded in 2011, is determined by fan vote and SABR’s Defensive Index metric.
Raleigh is the first Mariner to earn the prestigious distinction, coming off a season behind the plate where he led the Majors in catcher caught stealing and the American League in defensive runs saved.
