Eck Steps Down as Vandal Football Coach to Take Reins at New Mexico

The University of Idaho has announced that Jason Eck has accepted a position as the head football coach at the University of New Mexico.

Eck was named the head coach at Idaho on Dec. 18, 2021, and led the Vandals to a 26-13 record over three seasons, including three Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances, back-to-back FCS quarterfinal games, a pair of wins over Football Bowl Subdivision programs and the program’s first Jerry Rice Award winner, Gevani McCoy

in 2022.

This season, Idaho won 10 games for just the third time in program history and went 6-0 home inside the P1FCU Kibbie Dome for the first time since 1996.
