Jorge Polanco’s 8th inning two-run homerun completed a comeback as the Seattle Mariners rallied to top the Athletics 4-2 last (Thur) night to open the 2025 season.
Polanco had three of the M’s 5 hits and Randy Arozarena also homered.
On the mound, Logan Gilbert pitched well but didn’t factor into the decision. The Seattle right-hander allowed a run on just two hits with 8 strikeouts and no walks over 7 innings. Trent Thornton picked up the win with an inning of relief and Andres Munoz pitched a no-hit 9th to earn the save.
The series continues tonight (Fri) in Seattle with the first pitch set for 6:40 p.m. with live radio coverage in the LC Valley on 95.5 FM and AM 950 KOZE and in the upper Clearwater Valley on AM 1300 KLER.
