
The open burning season opens today (Tue) in Asotin County.
According to the Asotin County Fire Marshal, burn piles must be no larger than 4 feet by 4 feet and can be no higher than 3 feet. Additionally, fires must be completely out by 4 p.m. The city of Asotin follows the same guidelines.
Controlled burning is only allowed in the spring and fall. The spring burning season runs from April 1st to May 31st. The fall burning season runs from October 15th to December 15th.
Those who plan to burn should consult the county open burning phone line which is updated daily, to check on weather and air quality conditions, by calling (509) 243-2002.
For those who don’t wish to burn, an alternative is offered at the Asotin County Regional Landfill in the Clarkston Heights at no additional charge.
