On the LHS Football Facebook page, a message was posted this afternoon saying the head coach is stepping down. We haven’t confirmed this yet, but we will update the story as it develops.
Here’s the message:
Dear Bengal Nation:
I would like to convey my gratitude for the assistance, opportunities and guidance I have received throughout my eight years at Lewiston High School.
I have made the decision to step down from the football head coaching position at LHS.
This has not been an easy decision, but after a lot of thought and prayer, I know it is the right thing to do for me and my family.
I have grown personally and professionally working with a team that is so devoted to our students and our athletes.
I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will gladly assist in any way I can.
I would also like to express my appreciation to the administration, fellow educators, community members, and local businesses that have backed Bengal Football.
My heartfelt thanks go to the football coaching staff, parents, and players.
I am especially grateful to my family for their love and support of me in my roles as a teacher and coach.
LHS has the best technology, equipment and facilities along with fantastic students. I am confident that the Bengal Football program will continue to prosper and achieve great success in all their future endeavors.
GO BENGALS!
Sincerely,
Matt Pancheri
