Lewis-Clark State College’s Introduction to Public History class will be hosting a reception to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. The reception will take place at the Lewiston City Library event space from 9:30-11 a.m. on May 7th.
The community is invited to attend this free event, and refreshments will be provided.
The class will be unveiling interpretive panels discussing the history of the canyon and the National Recreation Act. Students were tasked with researching chosen topics for the panels, writing the information, and working with LC State graphic design students to create the panels. They will also be in attendance to answer questions about their projects, the class in general, and the role of history. A discussion panel, consisting of students from the class, will take place during the event as well.
The project serves as a way for students to reach the goal of the course, which is to connect history with a larger public audience.
