
The number of Washington businesses considering moving out of state is up. The Association of Washington Business Spring Survey is out. It details the feelings and plans of Washington business owners and employers.
12% of Washington businesses say they want to relocate out of state, and Idaho is the most-listed destination.
44% of employers expect Washington’s economy to enter a recession in the next year. They’re calling it a “dramatic upswing”. It was 17% in the winter survey.
Almost 2/3rds (61%) of those wanting to leave the evergreen state cite taxes as the main reason. More than half of employers say the overall tax burden is their biggest challenge. That’s followed by government regulations as a burden. More than 1/3rd mention a lack of qualified workers as a struggle they face.
