No one was hurt in a fire last night. A release from the Asotin County Fire District says two people escaped their home in Asotin when they woke to find smoke and flames in their hallway.
Both City of Asotin and Asotin County Firefighters responded to the blaze at about 11:30pm. The fire was under control within 10 minutes.
Three cats and two dogs were in the home. Medical crews gave the pets oxygen and the owners said they were taking them to a vet to be evaluated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Chief Noel Hardin says the fire started on the back porch, traveled up the outside wall into the attic and through the walls of the manufactured home before the owners noticed it.
Firefighters were on scene until about 2am making sure the fire was completely out.
