Idaho State Board of Education President Kurt Liebich has asked Dr. Jeremiah Shinn to serve as interim president at Boise State University when outgoing President Marlene Tromp begins to transition to her new role at the University of Vermont after the spring commencement.

Dr. Shinn currently serves as Boise State’s vice president for student affairs and enrollment management. He returned to Boise State in early 2023 after serving as vice president for student affairs at Louisiana State University for three and a half years. Prior to LSU, Shinn worked in various roles at Boise State starting in 2010. In addition, Shinn has taught at the graduate and undergraduate levels throughout his academic career.

According to a news release, the State Board will take formal action on Shinn’s appointment at a later date.
