Idahoans overwhelmingly cast their presidential ballots for incumbent President Donald Trump over Democrat Joe Biden 63 percent to 33 percent.
All three Republican incumbents retained their Congressional seats. Senator Jim Risch received more than 62 percent of the vote to Democrat Paulette Jordan’s 33 percent. Russ Fulcher retained his 1st Congressional Seat defeating Democrat Rudy Soto 67 percent to 28 percent; and the 2ndd Congressional Seat will still be occupied by Mike Simpson, who defeated Democratic challenger Aaron Swisher 64 percent to 31 percent.
In Idaho state legislative races locally: District 6 will remain the same as Republicans Dan Johnson, Aaron Von Ehlinger and Mike Kingsley were all unopposed. District 7 was the same story as Carl Crabtree, Priscilla Giddings and Charlie Shepherd all won running unopposed.
The Idaho District 5 races were contested. The District 5 Senate race for the moment appears to belong to incumbent Democrat David Nelson who received less than 200 more votes than Republican challenger Dan Forman – or 50.3 percent to 49.6 percent.
In the District 5 House race for Seat A, Republican Brandon Mitchell defeated Democrat Dulce Kersting-Lark 55 percent to 44 percent. And incumbent Republican Caroline Nilsson Troy was re-elected by a 55 percent to 40 percent margin over Democrat Renee Love.
The election results won’t be officially certified at the county level until Nov. 13th. Overall results will be certified by the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office by Nov. 18th.
