Crews have gained ground on two of the areas largest active wildfires.
Firefighters battling the more than 36,000 acre Green Ridge Fire in southeastern Washington continue to construct fire line. Fire managers have benefited from the blaze burning into some areas of the nearby Lick Creek Fire in Asotin County and contingency lines have held in spite of gusty winds on the northern flank.
Meanwhile, crews have established more fire line on the more than 11,000 acre Bedrock Fire burning in Nez Perce and Clearwater counties between Lenore and Cavendish.
Over the past few days, firefighters have been working to keep the fire within steep canyons and strengthen lines by performing burnout operations in agricultural fields at the top of the canyons.
The fire, which has destroyed three homes and 12 outbuildings is now listed at 51 percent contained. (InciWeb, Idaho Department of Lands)
